Surrender to the spring light (Kyoto LXXXV)

The garden of Heian jingu. How come I haven't come here before? Well better late than never... and actually the spring is too early with plum flowers already trying to get open. One of the many hidden bubbles of peace in the middle of the Kyoto. There's nothing like having a slow walk through a Japanese garden while taking photos of trees and plants. Verdure in the middle of winter and sharp roofed buildings carving the sky. Dark and chilly corners in the groves and smothered sounds from the city outside.

Aiming to allow space for one's mind, these harmonious yet human made nature spots are actually  invading the mind, leaving little space for the mind to wander. On the opposite, a city space forces us to push itself away while we violently make our way to rest. The motivation is the same, a mind repelling the sensory flux from the surroundings. Still I prefer my mind to be attacked in peace, I surrender to the spring light without a fight.

Oh and look, it's that place from the Lost in Translation!
