Archery in Shimogamo-shrine and horse riding with stunts at Fujinomori-shrine (Bushashinji and Kakeumashinji -festivals). First event I saw through the shrine gate's bars and the horse riding from the first row of seats of an invitation quest booth of the shrine. (Thanks to that anonymous elderly couple who gave us the tickets.) These were the days of early May when the air was still somewhat breathable and the sun wouldn't burn all life away.
